It always starts out the corner of your eye
a shadow, an animal, a smile so wry
but it will grow to something more
something to make you check behind doors
a feeling that makes you worry away
one that makes you question your say
and then you'll start to imagine them near
without eyes and mouths but still with those sneers
you'll start to imagine them breaking your neck
yet you convince yourself you've nothing to fret
then in your head a voice so clear
until it's all you're able to hear
and that is when you'll start to worry
that you belong in rooms as white as flurries
that you'll be given a jacket to match
to wear until they can fashion your patch.
But those with insanity I have advice to show
just sit back and let the disease grow
because things that can grow don't wander places they shouldn't go

Awesome piece. Great theme and diction. I particularly liked the "without eyes and mouths but still with those sneers" line. It feels almost eldritch horror in its description, and that's my favorite kind of insanity premise lol.
